A colorful 11×14 study of the hill at Moncus Park, affectionately known in my house as “The Tallest Point in Lafayette.”

My husband likes to joke that this is the tallest point in Lafayette. I’m not sure if that’s technically true, but if you have ever stood on top of that hill, you know the feeling.

From up there you can see the pond, the flowers, and the paths winding through the park. As a kid, standing on that hill feels like you are the tallest you will ever be anyway.

This little painting captures that view. The water, the irises, and the bright Louisiana color that shows up when the light hits the landscape just right.
