Take Me Away sits inside a feeling many Louisianans know well, the quiet tug between curiosity for elsewhere and the deep, almost unspoken attachment to home.

There is a particular kind of restlessness that lives in this landscape. The heat, the closeness of the air, the sense of water always nearby can make you dream of distance, of cooler places, of wide open horizons. And yet Louisiana has a way of imprinting itself on you. The color, the pace, the softness of marsh light and the sound of birds overhead become part of your internal compass.

With Cajun roots in my family, I have come to understand that longing and staying are not opposites but part of the same inheritance. Cajun history holds movement, resettling, adaptation, and a fierce attachment to place. That emotional rhythm lingers today, shaping how many of us imagine leaving while quietly knowing we will return.

This piece became a reflection on that emotional orbit. Not escape, but the permission to wander while remaining tethered by memory, culture, and landscape. It speaks to the experience of watching something take flight and feeling both the urge to follow and the comfort of standing exactly where you are.

Part of my Land & Sea collection, Take Me Away holds that suspended moment of possibility, where departure exists alongside devotion and the horizon feels both distant and familiar.
